The Wettsteins have been dedicated organic farmers since 1985, long before it was commonplace. On their 140-acre farm near Carlock, Illinois, they raise certified organic beef, pork, poultry, and eggs, which they sell directly to customers. They also grow organic soybeans, corn, and other grains, providing feed to other local organic livestock and dairy farmers. In addition to their organic certification, their farm operates with a significantly smaller energy use and carbon footprint than neighboring conventional farms.
